Struggling With Freshman Year

Manage new expectations, competition, independence, relationships, and belonging.

Going from the best on your old team to the bottom of a new depth chart is a status change, not a talent change. It still hurts.

Almost everything is new at once: training load, academics, living situation, social group. Expect a dip; it is not evidence that you don't belong.

Shrink the timeline. Compete for the week, not the season. Track process, not depth chart position.

Build one relationship at a time and stay honest with someone you trust. If the low stretch lasts and pulls in sleep, appetite, or interest in things you love, talk to a professional.
